Photo Studio Equipment

Photo studio equipment include the necessary lighting, backdrop and power equipment to shoot any picture.

Photography is about light. Specifically, photography is about capturing light and stopping time. That’s the basics of photography. The former is common knowledge and can be considered the science of photography. The latter is ephemeral and hard to come by, but serves as the differentiator between art and the mundane.

In the pursuit of the best photo possible, we turn to the science of photography. Or at least we try to control the light in a controlled environment which we call the photo studio. Now for the geeky, nerdy part, the photo studio is not a photo studio unless you’ve got the necessary photo studio equipment.

So what are the basics of a photo studio equipment? There’s the light source, the background, the cameras, printing and development equipment (which includes the computer and software) and the organizational equipment.

For the most part, the equipment people are familiar with, aside from the cameras are the lighting equipment, like the strobes, reflectors, diffusers, back lights, high lights, etc. Depending on the photographer’s style and technique of shooting pictures, these equipment can vary between studios and photographers.
